RADICAL RITUAL BURNING MAN
The dust has settled and I am back home digesting my second Burn. Trying to figure out how it was different from the first and putting the pieces together of experiences, conversations and moments that made it both incredible and also very tough.
Record breaking heatwave, a broken down AC unit, and eventually a broken down rv that took three days to fix will make this one memorable indeed. This year also felt less about adventure and getting lost and more about the parties and music which was a little disappointing, to be completely honest. Too many people on their phones, organizing less than spontaneous photo shoots and ones with connection posting stories left and right. That said, there is still no other environment like Black Rock City and the opportunities for adventures are endless.
These visuals are just some of the highlights from my "Postcards from burning Man" series and really the lyrics to this song literally sum up my week better than I could ever describe myself.
"Road To Nowhere by the Talking Heads "
Well we know where we're goin'
But we don't know where we've been
And we know what we're knowin'
But we can't say what we've seen
And we're not little children
And we know what we want
And the future is certain
Give us time to work it out
We're on a road to nowhere
Come on inside
Takin' that ride to nowhere
We'll take that ride
I'm feelin' okay this mornin'
And you know
We're on the road to paradise
Here we go, here we go
We're on a ride to nowhere
Come on inside
Takin' that ride to nowhere
We'll take that ride
Maybe you wonder where you are
I don't care
Here is where time is on our side
Take you there...take you there
We're on a road to nowhere
There's a city in my mind
Come along and take that ride
And it's all right, baby, it's all right
And it's very far away
But it's growing day by day
And it's all right, baby, it's all right
Would you like to come along
You can help me sing this song
And it's all right, baby, it's all right
They can tell you what to do
But they'll make a fool of you
And it's all right, baby, it's all right
There's a city in my mind
Come along and take that ride
And it's all right, baby, it's all right
And it's very far away
But it's growing day by day
And it's all right, baby, it's all right
Would you like to come along
You can help me sing this song
And it's all right, baby, it's all right
They can tell you what to do
But they'll make a fool of you
And it's all right, baby, it's all right
We're on a road to nowhere
