PHOTOGRAPHER BETTINA PITTALUGA

Bettina is French-Uruguayan photographer, living in Paris.

We are in love with the authenticity in how she portrays beauty, and of an emotion, a moment, and in what is most real. The artist studied sociology and also worked as a reporter. It's therefore really second nature for her to compose with what is already present and existent.

I am focused on giving a voice and visibility to those who are not or too little represented. It is very important to me to do everything to deconstruct this hegemony ; I am committed to invoke all these fights until they are won.

Your greatest inspirations or influences?

I am lucky to have so many very talented friends around me, am very inspired by the paintings of Neïla Ichti (@alienhabibti), by the music of Tshegue (@tshegue_official) and Nyoko Bokbae (@nyokobokbae), by the engaged poems of Sophia Ould-kaci (@canalchouf), the drawings by Lisa Signorini (@lilisignorini).. and many others, the list is too long !

Tell us a bit about your creative process?

To me, the relationship needs to exist, even if it is very short-lived. Human connections, sharing, confidence, for my part it is vital to my creation, it's always a shared creation. I create an area of consideration, respect and caring all round, and I let the person be.

I am proud of all my works, it's always special and important for me.

About 2021, I am very grateful, I have a lot of things coming up, I am working on documentaries, music videos, and two exhibitions that are really important to me !

How has this year changed your creativity or how you see the world changing moving forward?

I think this wasn't the right moment to think about being productive or creative. I believe it was a time to focus on civic responsibility. Since the end of quarantine, it only strengthens my struggles.

Anything else you'd like to share?

Hoping to share a lot of love through my photographs
