KING OF MELROSE

I recently discovered Serbian fashion designer George Styler's wonderful creations at all my favorite shops on Melrose and fell in love. Very excited for having the opportunity to interview this  creative to discuss his inspirations and how the Los Angeles fashion scene is evolving.

How did you get into fashion George?

From an early age, I demonstrated talent for painting and drawing, so it was obvious that my career would be related to art. No one was surprised when I choose fashion design as my major in college. After graduation, I started working as fashion designer for fashion companies in Serbia. My first independent fashion show was 6 years ago  and since I have created my brand.

Your greatest inspirations or influences?

My greatest inspiration are fairytales and the beauty of nature.

I also like to combine styles from different parts of the world to promote multiculturalism in my collections. In each of my outfits you can see elements of different cultures: African, Asian, South American, elements of Balkan tradition with the touch of British Punk and Hollywood Glamour.

Do you have a muse when you design your collections?

Everybody can be my muse and my clients are usually authentic, brave, creative individuals who appreciate unique pieces of art.

Most interesting response to your work or to your collections you've heard so far?

Since I am a knitwear designer, the most interesting response to my work was when ‘Machine Knitting Magazine’ called me Knitwear King for 2014. I also won Fashion Scout’s ‘Ones to Watch’ at London Fashion Week.

Favorite websites or instagram handles you follow?

Over the Past few months I've been away from my home in Europe so I use social media to stay in touch with my friends and their lives.

How is the L.A fashion scene evolving?

Los Angeles is not a fashion capital yet, but its well on its way to become one!
