Photo London Fair 2024
Photo London Fair’s ninth edition is a vibrant showcase.
This year provides an eclectic mix of historic and contemporary works, some regional focuses, and innovative new sections that highlight the ever-evolving world of photography. Here’s a sneak peek and some highlights.
Celebrating Women Photographers
One of the standout features of this year’s fair is the spotlight on solo presentations by women photographers, both past and present. Visitors will have the rare opportunity to see the unseen color photography of Helen Levitt, a 20th-century icon, alongside the evocative works of Lee Miller. Contemporary talents such as Jacquie Maria Wessels, and Siân Davey are also featured, showcasing the rich and varied contributions of women to the photographic medium.
Turkish Galleries Take Center Stage
Photo London 2024 underscores its international appeal with a strong regional focus on Turkey. Eight Turkish galleries, including DIRIMART, Galeri Nev Ankara, and SANATORIUM, offer a unique glimpse into the diverse perspectives and styles emerging from Istanbul.
Discovering New Talents
Curated by Charlotte Jansen, the Discovery section is a fresh direction for Photo London. This section supports unrepresented artists through the backing of collectors and patrons. In its inaugural year, positions feature five artists who delve into the concept of beauty, promising thought-provoking and visually stunning works that push the boundaries of traditional photography.
American Presence
The fair will also see a robust presence from the United States, with ten galleries from New York alone. Among these, the Cierra Britton Gallery stands out, focusing exclusively on work by Black women and Indigenous artists. Roya Khadjavi Projects / Nemazee Fine Art spotlights young Iranian artists.
Iconic Fashion Photography
Fashion photography aficionados will not be disappointed. Iconic works by Steven Meisel and Max Vadukul are displayed at Ira Stehmann Fine Art, and ATLAS Gallery features the timeless elegance of Patrick Demarchelier’s work.
