A CHRISTMAS STORY

To my friends who celebrate Christmas! As we approach this festive season, I encourage us all to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas and the profound impact it holds. This year Christmas in Bethlehem has been canceled by a conflict that has claimed the lives of thousands, with over half being innocent children - babies, mothers, fathers, pets, and civilians.

Today I came across this beautiful video which depicts a little boy who, amidst the chaos and desperation, arrives late to a food distribution. This heart-wrenching scene serves as a powerful reminder of the true meaning of Christmas.

Children, resilient and hopeful, face not only the immediate threats of indiscriminate bombing, and slow, painful deaths but also starvation. No matter the atrocities committed and war crime after war crime after war crime, we have all been witness to in the past few weeks, absolutely nothing can break their hearts.

This Christmas, as we gather with friends and family, let us carry the image of that hungry little boy in our hearts. Let us remember the selflessness of the other children who, despite their own hunger, ensured he had something to take back to his surviving family's tent—a small gesture with profound humanity.

As we revel in the joy of the season, let us recognize our responsibility as humans to protect all children. Peace is not merely an expression or sentiment; it is an actionable commitment that we must practice daily. Our humanity depends on it.

Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones.
