Hi.

Our mission is simple: to share inspiring narratives. We curate exceptional talents, selecting them solely based on the merit of their work, not fleeting trends. Join us in exploring the uncharted territories of creativity and celebrating the essence of artistry.

I’m a Taiwanese visual artist based in Taichung, Taiwan. After 2-year study at Royal College of Art in London, I’ve been a freelance animator, director and Illustrator. My works explore poetry, rhythm and place in 2D animation. I got the chance to work on different projects such as videos for books and poems, music videos. < A Girl Who’s Afraid of Touching People> is my latest personal film and I recently made a fun and colourful music video <馬馬虎虎Mama Huhu> for Lucky Old Sun. And now I’m working on my new animated shorts, Lethe, about memories and loss.

Tell us about your greatest inspirations or influences?

I love poetry and short stories and I find out that there is a strong relationship between the two and animation. They all convey abundant and fluid feelings in a rather short form. I explore a lot in poetic narration. And each of my films is often influenced by a literary piece. <When the Silence Comes> is inspired by Wislawa Szymborska’s <Elegiac Calculation> and <Ye You> is influenced by Teru Miyamoto’s <River of Fireflies>.

Tell us a bit about your creative process?

I always start with storyboarding and sound editing. Building up a soundscape first allows me to be freer on developing the visual and gives me more ideas and information on the piece I want to create. It’s like a world is created but yet in the shadow and my only job left is to reveal.

How has the pandemic affected your creativity and how do you see the world-changing?

It was not my plan to jump directly into freelancing after graduation but the Covid changed everything. It is harder to travel abroad and stay in a foreign country and on the other hand, you could work remotely. The situation kind of pushed me to find commissions and funding. And for creativity, I have more time to do more research on the topics which I am interested in. I could slow down, think deeper and organize my messy thoughts. But since the pandemic has lasted for almost two years, I feel a lack of new stimulation and real experiences. It is time to go out again and find some new ideas.

Who do you consider to be an icon of our time?

I don’t have a specific person in mind but I would say “women”! We should support each other and cherish our talents more.

What does wellbeing mean to you, and what do you practice?

Stay with the people I like and be able to travel anywhere I want. During the pandemic, it is hard to meet people in person so I will remind myself not to forget to keep in contact with friends and family.

Anything else you would like to share?

Besides animation, I also love to draw comics and make small books. It doesn’t take too long to make so I can experiment or tell small interesting stories happening in my life. You can see my love for nature and fantasy in these small books.
