Hi.

Our mission is simple: to share inspiring narratives. We curate exceptional talents, selecting them solely based on the merit of their work, not fleeting trends. Join us in exploring the uncharted territories of creativity and celebrating the essence of artistry.

LIFE IS BETTER WITH COLOURS

LIFE IS BETTER WITH COLOURS

Jordi Machí, (1983), from Algemesí, Valencia has lived and exhibited his artworks all over the world. As we will learn in more detail he is inspired greatly by the cartoons of his childhood, and draws influence from artists like Egon Schiele and Norman Rockwell. He currently lives between Madrid and Valencia.

Your greatest inspirations Jordi?

I was always that kind of kid who would fly away looking out the window and spend most of my time in my own world, probably as a result from the death of my father and a complicated family situation. I took refuge in myself, using art as an open door to escape to a kinder world.

I loved cartoons so much and I still love them. When we are children we use illusions to build our own imaginary worlds. Now as an adult, of course, I have many other priorities and desires that the simplicity of cartoons cannot cover, so I adapt them to new, more mature and more self-fulfilling situations.

Tell us a little about your creative process.

The process is very relative and depends on emotional factors, concentration or the work itself.

Personally, I prefer and need to have everything very clear in my mind on what I am going to do and how I am going to transfer it from my head to a support. The next step would be some primary sketches of future paintings that I will then develop, select some and discard others until I can visualize a complete collection.

After this arduous process, it is time to paint and fly.

How has the pandemic affected your creativity and how do you see the world changing?

Fortunately for me, the pandemic and more specifically the confinement has been an extremely positive stage, both personally and pictorially and to such an extent that I have felt guilty for having been so happy during this time.

I am a social person but I also really like my solitude, and having so much time to myself made me realize how much I needed this space. I got into my bubble and I did not stop painting.

Who do you consider an icon of our time?

There are many current iconic characters in many areas that inspire me, so many that I would not dare to name any in particular, in my case when I think of icons transferred to my art.

What does wellness mean to you?

Well-being is working on something that you are passionate about, having time for yourself, wanting and feeling loved, that is all I need.

Anything else you would like to share?

I am a dreamer who uses art to fly away from the dark to see a more beautiful world. My art is a reflection of my feelings and my feelings are full of colors and vibrations, a search for beauty contrasted with the macabre, because I usually use art to free myself from the darkness of my mind. I need art to be free.
