EROTIC ARTIST PAULINA MASEVNINA

Erotic artist and photographer working in two directions: a visual intimate/sexual diary and the New East.

Your greatest inspirations or influences?

I am obsessed with sharing my own intimate life, being watched and possessed by the  viewer. This kind of non verbal dialogue between me and them inspires me to create. I want to make people feel something intense, no matter if these feelings are beautiful, inspiring or even disturbing.

Romantic love,  intensity of touch, sexual experience, obsessions and my lovers are my  greatest inspiration.

At the moment I would say I am greatly influenced by Sophie Calle and Tracey  Emin, for their frankness, intensity and presence. I would also say: Terry Richardson, Rita  Lino and Gaspar Noe, they stand out for their visual language.

Tell us a bit about your creative process?

Usually I just follow the flow, work very intuitively. I portray myself and others,  taking erotic shots on the verge of soft pornography. I want my shots to be raw,  overexposed, unfocused, as if the photographer peeked inside your bedroom, by  this I’m trying to evoke feelings of a voyeuristic atmosphere. When I work on projects related to my relationship with my motherland,  a sometimes toxic relationship, it can get very emotional and intense.

How has this year changed your creativity or how you see the world changing  moving forward?

This year definitely knocked the ground out from under my feet and definitely took  me out of my comfort zone, but also pushed me to rethink my whole artistic  concept and find something new, something refreshing and even more inspiring.

Dealing with the nakedness always meant to have close physical contact with  models, and when I lost this opportunity, when I became kind of limited, I had to rethink the meaning of intimacy, body-ness and the ways to depict it.

Who do you consider to be an icon of our time?

I don’t like an icon as the definition that’s concentrated on someone particular and  don’t believe in a unique figure of genius. For me young open minded  artists are always the ones who push the borders and change art world with their uncompromising, passionate and youthful nature.

What does wellbeing mean to you?

Being able to travel to places that inspire the most anytime I want. To feel as much as possible, to be in the flow that drives me to create.
