In our quest to find the world’s inspiring artists to interview, we found the stunning floral photography of Paula Codoner, who is based in Valencia, Spain.

The visual artist studied Product & Design, Fine Art Photography and has a Master’s Degree in Graphic Design. She is also the co-founder of Malvarrosa Film Lab, working a lot with analogue photography. Clients include one of our favourite publications, Broccoli Magazine, as well as Refinery 29, Kate Spade & recent exhibitions include:

Your greatest inspirations or influences?

Light, color and nature and specifically ikebana, minimalism and abstraction.

Tell us a bit about your creative process?

My creative process is different depending on the project, the timing and depending on whether it is a commission or a personal project. Something they will always have in common however, is that I always love to experiment with light, colours and chance.

How has this year changed your creativity or how you see the world changing moving forward?

This year my creativity has been a balance between experimentation and reflection.

Who do you consider to be an icon of our time?

I don’t believe in a unique icon and figure of genius, I can’t choose one because there are many people creating and contributing to improve the world. All of them deserve the recognition.

Do you think the art world needs to change?

Yes I do. I I think it is necessary that it improves based on inclusivity and diversity of artists- giving more room for different points of view and perspective.

What does wellbeing mean to you?

A good balance between health, family & friends, hobbies and work.
