SCOTT ARCHIBALD
A Photographer based in London, who’s originally from Portsmouth, UK. and yes of course, we are massive fans of his work. Check it out here.
Your greatest inspirations or influences?
I’m in awe of the world of quantum physics, for instance The Observer Effect describes how the act of seeing veils the true nature of reality, it almost sounds like art theory. Caravaggio was a card. Diego Maradona. Acid in the 90s. I’m a big fan of Adam Curtis, his new documentary Can’t Get You Out Of My Head, is currently scorching my slippers.
Things you are looking forward to this year?
I look forward to a few nights of wild abandon. London is going to be alight this summer, full power after the isolation, we owe it and each other some love. I also urgently need to swim in the ocean.
Tell us a bit about your creative process? Work you are most proud of, How has this year changed your creativity?
Technically, I like to play with lighting and speeds. Romantically, I like a mood, a shoot that feels like a happening or an event. A year in lockdown may have had a freeing effect on my creative process, I feel I work with more joy now, less fear. It was wonderful to create and collaborate in a homegrown style with my partner, Maggie Maurer.
Who do you consider to be an icon of our time?
Apart from Maggie Maurer? Greta Thunberg should be leading the UN. The BLM collective are all heroes. CARDI B is queen.
