Introducing Some Fresh Music

We’ve been spending our quarantine listening and reviewing music like crazy! Leila and I love music more than anything, and we get really excited to share talents that excite us. Today we feature three amazing talents that range from a bit of an 80’s feel, to indie rock and lo fi trip hop by a young musician. Enjoy!

Danto - Lust In Light

Day & Dream

Day & Dream is an indie rock dream pop band hailing from North Carolina.
Long time artists, musicians and singer/songwriters, Peter Frizzante and Abby Amaya, initially met in New York City, but didn't start a band together until they moved to Asheville. Abby’s roots are in California 60s coastal pop, while Peter’s is post-punk grit. Working together, the now husband and wife team showcase their admiration for sonic landscapes, fuzzy guitars, and melodic pop structures. Reverb soaked and layered with soft whispery vocals, the result is an energetic and memorable reverie.

Ezra is a 17-year-old musician and producer who describes his music as 'lofi hip hop'.

“ I think good music can be made even if the artist doesn't have access to the greatest equipment or materials.”

Greatest inspirations or influences?

Despite the fact that I live in a small town where everyone listens to country music and rock, I grew up with mostly jazz and hip hop. Listening to albums like Black on Both Sides - Mos Def, The Eminem Show, Enter the Wu-Tang, and a bunch of Kanye and Kendrick Lamar. Not to mention listening to a bunch of Miles Davis, Coltrane, Charlie Parker and Tony Williams. Tony Williams was one of the reasons I started learning jazz drums.

My biggest producer influencers are 88-keys, J Dilla, Kanye and DJ Shadow, but in the past 3 years, a big inspiration to me has been Tyler, the Creator. His music is unlike every other artist on the top charts today, which is why I look up to him so much.
