Latin American Designers in Madrid

Madrid has become the fashion capital for Latin American Designers.

As I’ve mentioned before, one of the things I love most about Madrid, is the cultural aspect of this city. Yesterday I was running errands and I walked passed the Bless Hotel that is exhibiting La Pasarela Latino Americano, a tiny presentation combining art and fashion. The concept comes from one of my favourite fashion muses and icons here in Spain, Agatha Ruiz de la Prada. She says "I have learned the importance of Latin America and there I feel at home," says the designer recalling the first time she traveled to the continent. This love for Latin America has led the colourful and extremely vibrant designer to be the ‘godmother’ of the first edition of Pasarela Latinoamericana, an event that seeks to unite cultures and make Madrid the fashion capital of Latin America. “I am delighted with this event and, even more, that it takes place at Casa de América. I've been thinking for years that it should have been done.’

Other designers included in the presentation:

  • Romero (Honduras);

  • Annie Chajin (Panama);

  • Fabián da Silva de Fauve and Diana Ramírez (Paraguay);

  • Yao and Álvaro Maradiaga (Nicaragua);

  • Vedelia Donoso (CHile);

  • Baishaki (Colombia);

  • Lisa Thon and Eddie Guerrero (Puero Rico)

  • and the Spanish emerging firm Ehlea.

Agatha’s daughter Cósima Ramírez de la Prada is her creative director who’s said "My fantasy was to continue in the academic world, but in the end I decided that I could contribute a lot in my mother's fashion firm.” . She currently serves as Head of International Relations for the brand and influencer. “ We love her style and attitude ( and her platform rainbow booties). :)))
