DREAM CATCHERS

DREAM CATCHERS

Today I am featuring two beautiful jewellery collections; my dear friends the Mukhi Sisters and tinyOm Jewellery , both inspired by Native American Dream Catchers. I have always loved them but after receiving one as a gift at Burning Man they have taken a whole new meaning.  Originally conceived by the Native American Ojibwe people, Dream catchers were made to represent Asibikaashi, the Spider Woman, who took care of people and especially children across the land. Made of a circle, which was then weaved across in a web-like pattern and then decorated with feathers, the dream catcher was hung from a bed, “catching” all bad dreams and letting only good ones through, allowing the dreamer a peaceful and serene slumber.

The Mukhi Sisters Dream Catcher Collection  ( images above) is a symbol of the persevering passion to make good things happen; to strive for a dream and make it happen. Designed in both yellow and rose gold, the collection  for both men and women mostly incorporates the use of diamonds and turquoise, in fluid movement that symbolizes the energy of optimism. The collection will be launched at Fashion Forward on October 4th, Dubai.

tinyOm Jewellery ( images below)  is a gorgeous collection created by Virginie Dreyer who moved from her home in France to the Middle East in 2000.  Captivated by the way in which craftsmen worked on gold in Bahrain, she started to design her own jewellery. At this time she had already become passionate about yoga, which she practices on a daily basis, and had begun a teacher training course. As she studied yoga more deeply, she found inspiration in its philosophies. And this is how tinyOm was created: jewellery bearing a symbolic value and meaning; jewellery you can wear every day that reminds you who you really are. From there her spirituality has evolved and hence the dream catcher collection was born.
