MOSCOW 5642 VYSOTA

Today I intervew my dear friend Jabagh's gorgeous wife  Madina who recently  dove in to the restaurant business having launched a joint project '5642 Vysota' with Arkadiy Novikov and the restaurateur Albina Chechenova in Moscow representing Circassian cuisine.

It's a relatively new and unknown cuisine and culture for foreigners and even for many Russians. Their aim is to create an authentic menu using ingredients and produce from Moscow, Nalchik and the Elbrus mountain region which is absolutely organic and fresh. Madina is working with very talented people on every detail  from interior designer - Natalya Belonogova,  to Vitaliy Kim -the concept chief chef of Novikov group who organized the kitchen space and cooks.  Madina says having a restaurant is like having a child, it needs a lot of attention, time, and positive energy.

Do you have a contemporary twist to this kind of cuisine or is it traditional?

There is a twist to these  different types of  traditional cuisine coming from the South Caucasus.

Restaurants are not your only passion how does the art world reflect your personal style and tastes?

100% contemporary art! MSK Eastside Gallery represents beautiful art works,  that are typically unusual for Moscow which I just love. Three of the paintings in our restaurant "5642 Vysota" are from a Circassian artist Eduard Mazlo who is represented by MSK eastside gallery.  And  of course i am in  love with my husband Ja'bagh Kaghado's works -which are full of passion, spirit and verve...I also love fashion, brands such as Helmut Lang, J Mendel, Isabel Marant, Stella McCartney, Balenciaga, Balmain, Givenchy, Zadig&Voltaire, Rick Owens, Iro, All Saints, American Retro etc..

Favorite places to see or experience in Moscow?

When it's warm and sunny Jabagh and I love to walk around the city. We love parks especially "Ermitazh" which is very cozy and European. Of course the "Patriarshyie prudi" area is our favorite with its little cafes. I recommend artplay and "krasniy oktyabr'" areas if u want to feel the artistic side of the city. The place "Krizis zhanra" is cool with it's design and atmosphere that never changes.

Favorite websites, blogs, publications?

Anything else you would like to share?

We are also planning not to stop here in Moscow with our restaurant projects and gallery, but we are thinking to bridge to the west like NYC, Miami and also Europe.
