MYRRH is a line of hand-made artisan jewelry, from Los Angeles, California all made organically by Mor Elian.

The 2013  "Acros" colection continues the geometric lines and themes of Myrrh's previous collections, but takes a step forward to experiment with the conventional construct of a necklace. Combining raw metals and chain, Mor breaks down the classical necklace and creates new shapes and patterns.  These new patterns were influenced by the acrobatic arts, such as tight rope walking, bar jumping and trapeze.  These influences arrived from a recent fascination with the 2012 Olympics in London.  The use of hand-dyed rope echoes that influence, and combines with the geometric metals of previous collections to form a new synthesis.

Mor why did you start designing jewelry?

I grew up in a household that revolved around design so it felt like a natural progression to take on designing. I have 2 older sisters and one is a interior designer and the other one is a fashion designer, and after trying to find my own path, I finally found my place in accessories design.

Where do you get your inspiration from?

I get most of my inspiration from traveling up and down the west coast and from my natural surroundings here in LA, the ocean and the desert. I LOVE the desert and try to go out there as much as possible, and that is reflected in my designs that have a strong desert vibe to them and the spirit of the gypsy traveler.

Where did you come up with your jewelery line name, Myrrh ?

My name Mor in Hebrew means "MYRRH" which is an incense that was used to be burnt in holy ceremonies and has medicinal uses. I loved the meaning and spelling of it and believe that its ideals are represented in MYRRH's designs.

Career highlights so far?

Having designed costume collar pins for Miguel (winner for best R&B Grammy or "Adorn") with his stylist Jasmine Benjamin that he apparently wears alot!

Favorite Magazines?

I actually love "Dwell" even though it is an architectural magazine. but you can see a heavy architectural feel to some of my designs as well, so it all comes together somehow. Once you are into design every area of design can also apply to you.

Favorite designers?

Huge fan of Rick Owens, him and his wife Michele Lamy are so inspiring in all they do. I also love Acne, Isabel Marant and Stella McCartney. and of course ones like Balenciaga  and Balmain.

Favorite photographers?

I love the local Eliot Lee Hazel. I know him personally and this man is good in anything he put is mind to. Also love a big Israeli photographer named Dudi Hasson that is a long time old friend. and the list goes on there are so many I love.

3 things you cant live without?

My Norma kamali Cat eye sunglasses, my iPhone (have to come forward with my addiction), and a nice cup of coffee first thing in the morning!

Biggest Challenges being in this industry?

Really its staying current and still maintain the MYRRH integrity in design.
