TSUNAMI & THE CHERRY BLOSSOM
Tonight I attended the React to Film screening for The Tsunami and the Cherry Blossom , a beautiful visual poem about the ephemeral nature of life. A tale of survivors in the areas hardest hit by Japan's tsunami who find the courage to revive and rebuild their lives as cherry blossom season begins. The film is directed by fearless video journalist and Academy Award Nominated filmmaker Lucy Walker (Waste Land), featuring photography by Aaron Phillips and fantastic music by Moby. The opening is actual footage ( very disturbing) of the tsunami as it approaches and destroys everything in its path. It is shocking and powerful and goes perfectly well with one quote from one of the survivors who says " human existence is a moment compared to nature". Check out the film's website to see how you can help and for screening information.
