MUKHI SISTERS
Tell us about Mukhi Sisters
We grew up in a family of jewelers, our father and his family (Mukhi A.Neechamal) have been in this industry since 1875 and our mother ( Effat Kreidie owner of Effy’s) is a fine jewelry designer so it was practically a given for us to end up in this field. When I graduated from university, I wanted to start my my own collection in order to share my personal style of jewelry with the world. Little by little the collection started to grow until my sisters and I combined forces and established Mukhi Sisters.
Greatest Inspirations/Influences?
My mother. Her work is an unlimited source of inspiration to me. I am very much influenced by vintage jewellery as well, I love checking out old pictures of jewelry, especially when I go to my father’s store. I also get influenced by phases I am going through, sometimes it can be my love for a stone. Whenever I design a piece of jewelry, a part of my character is in it, and is marked by a specific moment in my life.
Tell us about your funky ad campaign I love!
Our campaigns have been quite successful, at an earlier stage our ads had slogans in them and it was amazing how the moment the ads were out, random girls would put them as their status on facebook etc, or use the pictures as their profile pictures. We were very happy about that.
As for now, we’re playing with the word ‘attitude’- you see our slogan is ‘jewelry with an attitude’. You have to check out our viral on youtube and you’ll get it!
Where can we find Mukhi if not in Beirut?
We have a small collection at Sauce in Dubai. We’re working on our website. We’ve participated in shows in Paris and LA, and we’re going to Saudi Arabia, very soon.
Fashion icons in your opinion?
Growing up, I used to love the styles of Vanessa Paradis, Kate Moss and Cindy Lauper..
Now, I believe that any man or woman who is confident to wear anything that reflects who they are is a fashion icon to me.
Favorite websites, blogs?
I am not loyal at all to blogs and websites. I am still new to the world of blogs, I read random ones. But I promise u I will be checking your blog a lot more frequently. I still like to read books and magazines. I like twitter, does that count?
Up and coming artists or creatives we should know about?
foreign beggars, pavan is our cousin and we love him, they let us use their music on our first viral!
Alfred Tarazi does not go unnoticed.
Favorite boutiques?
my favorite boutique is right under my house, it’s PIAFF boutique I love their style, they get great brands and it’s funny because I’ve become loyal to these brands even when I am outside Lebanon.
