MEET THARY IN SIEM REAP CAMBODIA
During a visit to Siem Reap, Cambodia earlier this year, I had the pleasure of meeting Thary an enterpreneur with the friendliest smile. Thary was born with very small deformed legs, but instead of focusing on his hardships, he learned to weave and now runs a custom weaving bracelet business and can be found at night weaving beautiful bracelets all over town.
The colors are beautiful and I actually bought a few headbands as well that make really cool gifts. After speaking with Thary about his life and talents, I realized if my friends and I like his work so much, so would many others and now I´m on a mission to help him. I find his inner peace, and joy of life so admirable and infectious that I am fully determined to help him get noticed. I actually received an email from him a few days ago where he expressed concern as it has been raining so much this season he has not been able to sell and work.
The idea: Im looking to see if there are any photographers visiting/living in Cambodia who can meet Thary and have professional photos taken of him and his bracelets.
These could then be used to send to buyers all over the world, or perhaps someone would be interested in creating a website so Thary can grow his business and not have to depend on tourism alone.
Apparently I´m not the only one who was impressed with Thary´s positive outlook on life and beautiful work. When googling ¨Thary bracelet maker in Siem Reap¨ these links came up:
