Rames Photography

Rames met the world 33 years ago, and the first way he found to explain it was through painting.  He studied at the Visual Arts Institute in Mexico until he  started experiencing a thirst to know the world, which took him traveling around the world. It was on a trip to Switzerland that photography caught his attention.

He returned to Mexico where he worked on short films and found even more interest in photography. After a one year study of photography he went to Vancouver to take courses in fashion and alternative color techniques, (and was able to enjoy his other passion for snowboarding).  Once back in Mexico, he assisted several photographers before going on his own as a freelancer. He has done advertising and editorials for Vogue, Harper's, Elle, Zink, etc and is currently living between NY and Mexico with a continuous thirst for developing his images and illusions.

What are your inspirations?

My inspirations come from different visual artists, photographers, painters, films, but also from the common life where some times I get some kind of visions. Then I start working on that and start to develop the concepts.

Favorite Projects?

My favorite projects are the personal ones, (such as the two photos posted here) where there was not some body's assignment to fulfill, but to have the freedom to hear the inner voice and express it in some way. Also in this type of project you work just with the people you feel connected with, which happen to be your good friends. For these projects we put a lot of effort and fight against all difficulties such as weather, tiredness, stress and time, but at the end it  is so fulfilling and great to talk with your buddies about all the odysseys during the shoot. Equally important but so gratifying is to see these meaningful images printed in magazines in different parts of the world.

Plans for 2009?

My plan for 2009 is to keep working on developing new projects and expanding my self, looking for opportunities of projects in different countries. I just signed a contract with an agency in Australia (http://www.missbossyboots.com.au )and hope to have the opportunity to start working soon on that side of the world.
