Hi.

Our mission is simple: to share inspiring narratives. We curate exceptional talents, selecting them solely based on the merit of their work, not fleeting trends. Join us in exploring the uncharted territories of creativity and celebrating the essence of artistry.

Irfan, originally from Bandung, Indonesia, studied design in Singapore and recently moved to New Zealand to experience a new culture. He began creating  paper toys two years ago in Singapore, but since moving to New Zealand, he began spending all his time experimenting with paper and other materials. "I hate to do just print fold n cut templates, its such a limited way to do paper toys", says Irhan. Instead he plays with different special paper materials, and mixes them with gels and acrylics to create a plastic feel and we love the results.

What is Blocky?

Blocky, We're No Square.

It's a counter-culture tribe I am creating for a graphic novel that is in the works. It fights against a city controlled by media and propagandists that control our ideas, what we wear, and what we do. They try to make our ideologies disappear by making us mainstream. L'Blochy, blunny, blugger n facest are the characters for this graphic novel. Hopefully I'll finish it next year and have some money to publish it. The toys are promo items for the characters. This is probably the most interesting project I have worked on thus far as I have spent a long time doing the research to conceptualize and develop it.

What inspires you?

Probably my girlfriend, she is a nosy hardcore fine artist who always questions my concepts. Which is good practice for me, since some times I have trouble describing my concepts.

Favorite online communities?

Deviantart and

Nice Paper Toys

Favorite artists?

Theo Van Doesburg, founder of De Stijl and John Maeda-

Their woks influence a lot my style, ultimate simplicity with maximization in every aspect.

And of course underground comic artist Robert Crumb, who is a revolutionary .

Favorite websites?

  • I love sites that review design and culture like yours, and NOTCOT.org and kitsunenoir.com

  • These sites keep me in touch with outside world.

Future Plans?

Finish my website and some of my unfinished concepts. Eventually begin to raise money in order to do my first exhibition.

What else would you like our audience to know about you?

Wow, heavy question. Well similar to my Blocky concept, I don't want my identity as a graphic artist to disappear by the mainstream so I'll continue to  bring you guys  new stuff.
