The self taught jewelry designer Shabana Khan launched her collection in 2011. Shabana grew up in New York and was obsessed with fashion ever since a little child. Convinced that jewelry unlike other wardrobe staples requires a personal connection for the wearer, Shabana decided to fuse her personal philosophies and passion into her debut collection that merges her east meets west aesthetic, using bold colors and lots of detail. Shabana currently lives and works in Los Angeles.
Greatest inspirations or influences?
My greatest fashion inspiration are everyday women I meet or see, who look and act comfortable in their own skin. Jewelry is a very personal choice, and you can tell a lot about someone based on what they choose.
I was influenced by some of the most iconic designers that are still around today like Gloria Vanderbilt, Diane Von Furstenberg, and Oscar De La Renta.
Challenges of starting your own collection?
5 years ago, I went to India and started my first collection. I faced many logistical challenges early on, and after a year or so sought out manufactures in Los Angeles which has been one of the best decisions for my brand to date.

Anything else she’d like to share with our audience?
The collection is designed with versatility in mind, because in my own life as a business woman, mother, wife, and girlfriend I need pieces that can be worn in many ways. We have grouped them by occasion suggesting to our clients the best way to wear the pieces including Red Carpet and 9 to 5.
