Shi Wei is an artist with something of a reputation in the Chinese art world. Many claim his art borders on erotica but the artist insists his paintings and subjects are a true reflection of the women in China today, ” they are products of China’s new open door policy flourishing under its fast moving economic development”.  Shi Wei’s subject matter revolves around the sensuality of the female form, and the image of the “beautiful skinny woman” which  has now become his trademark. Each woman has her own characteristic and the artist is careful to give each their own identity.  The artist is currently a professor at the Beijing Art University.
