Special places like Miss Lily’s on Houston and Sullivan make me appreciate and love New York so much. Its such a luxury not having to always go to shi shi /expensive places to enjoy a good dinner and scene. The team behind this Jamaican spot specializing in a modern approach to classic island cuisine, are Serge Becker ( La Esquina, Lure Fishbar, Super Linda and Cafe Select) , Paul Salmon ( owner of the Rockhouse Hotel in Jamaica) and the Jakupi brothers ( both notorious in New York’s nightlife having run the doors at 1 Oak and the Box).
The scene is downtown funkiness with the decoration inspired by the West Indian influence in the Bronx and reggae beats keep the mood cheery and HOT. In fact so much I asked our friend at Low Pitch Orchestra to create a special Reggae set for you guys. Favorite dishes include the corn ( probably better than my favorite at Cafe Habana, the toasted coconut gives it a special kick), the jerk chicken jaquitos, fish tacos and banana cream pudding dessert.
