Check out our Tarifa postcard featured on Lucia Tait‘s travel and style blog Tait & Co.

Where to stay:

Activities-

  • There are plenty of beaches and  Kitesurf schools, I loved Arte Vida-  Talk to Hector who organized lessons with our professor Lee who was really good.

  • Rock Climbing- Girasol Adventures- Sabine and Chris are two Germans who run Girasol Adventures and can customize hikes, rock climbs, and yoga.
  • Day trip to Tangier, was really not my cup of tea but we did it anyways,( I have really cool suggestions for shopping though contact me for details)

Shopping in town:

  • Zero Gravity- My favorite store in Tarifa
  • Zas- very funky hippie clothes and accessories ( see photo below for the cutest kids wear)

  • Bambule- lovely embroidered beach baskets

  • T shirts all over town

  • Next to Girasol Adventures and right across from the every day fresh local market is a tiny little store run by an Italian, Giorgia, that sells burratta and freshly baked pies that are amazing.
  • Morrocan leather and an incredible array of colorful babouches

Where to eat:

  • Thanks to my friend Rai who suggested my personal favorite, Anca Curro.  It is located 100m from the Puerta de Jerez (the arch way into the old center) in a little side lane of the Calle de la Luz. Look out for the two metal horse’s heads by the door.

You need a car to reach these other spots:

  • Meat lovers will enjoy El Nene a traditional Andalusian in Facinas town
  • Seafood at Antonios in Zahara de los Atunes.  about half an hour away by car.
  • Lunch at Bahia de Bolonia, a chiringito all the way on the right close to the ruins on the beach

 To go out:

  • Unfortunately with all the sports and activities we were doing all day, I didn’t have much energy to check out Tarifa’s nightlife although I hear its really fun. We did a couple of chill out places like Pachamamma and 100% Pure Fun
