Monica Barreneche recently came to NY to study fashion photography at School of Visual Arts from Colombia where she had already tons of editorial experience. Her visual style represents her own nature, which is ironic and frank but what makes her so unique is the way she relates and interacts with her subjects. She has worked on important ad campaigns for Direct Tv, Avianca, and Visa, and has worked on editorial for Rolling Stone magazine, Seventeen, and the fashion forward Colombian magazine Fucsia. She is currently the photography editor for a new project for El Espectador Newspaper in Colombia.
What do you love about your work?
I love my work because it gives me the opportunity to continuously meet new people in different places, particularly in NY where a mix of cultures is so evident and inspiring.
What makes NY so special?
I’m still wondering why, I can’t explain it.
